St Johann for day trips from Kitzbuhel
Frustratingly not lift linked with the Kitzbuheler Horn ski area, St Johann occupies the other side of the mountain and has lifts that reach close to the Kitzbuheler Horn ski area. Close enough to suggest that arguments over apple crops are ongoing and preventing the most obvious addition to the St Johann ski lift infrastructure.
St Johann tends to offer more reliable snow than the Kitzbuheler Horn because of its aspect. Unfortunately the ski area cannot be accessed via skis from Kitzbuhel, just as Westendorf and then the Ski Welt can. Instead it requires use of the local ski buses. The skiing is mostly beginner and intermediate and the size of the ski terrain is not vast. That said, St Johann does not attract the crowds of Kitzbuhel and therefore makes a good day trip from Kitzbuhel.
