The most feared and the greatest downhill ski race in the world – the Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm Streif mens downhill.
The Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm takes place annually during the last week in January (weather permitting) and forms the central event of the Kitzbuhel ski race weekend. For one weekend each January every village ski club and every ski enthusiast descends on the town of Kitzbuhel for the greatest ski event in the world. Most of the country comes to standstill for the duration of the race and the atmosphere around Kitzbuhel is extraordinary. Tickets can be bought on the day and much too the distress of many local fans, the Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm 2006 was the first year to see an alcohol search of the spectators entering the arena. Food and alcohol are on hand within the arena and most years the crowd are happily intoxicated on the racing and the refreshments.
